Physical Therapist Kristen H. Monzo

Kristen Monzo is the newest addition to our Dosher Physical Therapy staff. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2009 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA after completing her BS in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2005.

Kristen’s treatment strategies are Manual Therapy focused, heart-centered, and fun. She comes from a diverse practice background, starting her career in Sports Medicine, then adventuring five years as a travel physical therapist across the United States, working with all patient populations from the newborn to the elderly; in outpatient, home health, and acute hospital settings. In 2013 Kristen was certified as a McKenzie Method Clinician, specializing in the Mechanical Diagnosis & Treatment of orthopedic spine and extremity pathologies. Her numerous Manual Therapy specialties include: Functional Manual Therapy®, training with the Institute of Physical Art since 2010, Visceral Manipulation, training with the Barral Institute, CranioSacral Therapy and Neural Meningeal Manipulation, training with the Upledger Institute; and Reiki/Energy Healing. Kristen completed her RYT200 Yoga Instructor Certification in 2016 at the Asheville Yoga Center, and frequently integrates yogic strategies and postures into her treatment programs. Kristen is also a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the APTA, and very much enjoys mentoring physical therapy students whether onsite in clinical or online. Kristen’s favorite aspect of her career is helping people to heal the root cause of their disease to be able to return to their ideal level of pain-free function; especially those individuals who have yet to find relief with standard treatments. In her own words, “My role as a therapist is to facilitate the patient’s intrinsic healing abilities and create a safe space for that healing to take place.”

Kristen and her young daughter relocated from Asheville, NC to Clemson, SC in early 2021. Kristen is a lifetime competitive athlete and an adventurous outdoors woman. When busy mom life allows, she continues to play soccer, run, cycle, swim, snowboard, hike, weight train, and enjoys a daily yoga meditation and practice. Her interests also include travel and adventuring into different cultures, live music, spirituality studies, astrology, creating art and poetry, jewelry making, and of course, exploring her new home here in the Upstate.
